Alpaca wool or "the gold of the Andes" is a perfect alternative for your wardrobe. It contains properties that are not found in sheep wool, making it even more valuable than cashmere and mohair.

It is one of the most luxurious and one of the finest fibers of the world. It has thermal regulation properties but at the same time it is soft and resistant. It is rare to find, making it very exclusive. Each garment made with alpaca wool is something special to wear, admire and feel.

But why is this material known as “The Queen of Wool” so special? What makes it superior to other fibers?

  1. Fineness and smoothness: almost never thicker than 30 microns and up to 19 microns of fineness (one micron is equivalent to one millionth of a meter). This makes it much softer and finer than cashmere.

  2. Warmth: maintains body temperature at normal levels (thermal regulation) regardless of external weather conditions, thanks to the fact that this material has microscopic air pockets, warming in a light way without making it stuffy.

  3. Resistance: It is up to 4 times more resistant than sheep wool, meaning this fiber deteriorates much less than others. It is fire retardant, withstanding fire and heat. It repels water and resists solar radiation so there is no risk of color fading out or shrinking.
Clothes made by alpaca fiber are durable and produced sustainable, contributing to saving in people's economy and taking care of the environment.

Hypoallergenic: Alpaca yarn doesn´t provoke allergies since it doesn´t contain lanolin (a wax that is highly absorbed by the skin and part of sheep wool). It is glowing because it is a very "clean" fiber, not affected by fungi and other microorganisms that could irritate our skin or deteriorate garments. In addition, it "does not itch", it is very smooth and hugs the skin.

  4. Natural: Alpaca fiber has at least seventeen natural colors, ranging from white, gray, brown to black. This is somewhat rare in other yarns,  but helps to avoid the use of chemical products for dyeing. It is also a great way to care for and respect the environment. With the use / production of alpaca wool, we encourage the responsible and sustainable use of resources and promote fair trade: 80% of this fiber is produced by small Andean farmers, using traditional methods respecting the nature.

  5. Versatility: Alpaca fiber can be used to make sweaters, blankets, shawls, scarfs, bags, ropes, rugs and more.

That is why alpaca fiber is the material of choice for designers, sellers, and customers. It is a tempting, elegant, versatile and durable product, that gives you that special feeling of being integrated with nature when wearing it.
